Buffalo plaid, a red truck and a tree roped to the roof is a whole December in one picture. "Farm Fresh Christmas Trees" puts that on a jar of Fraser fir, balsam and cedar, for the house that never makes it to the tree farm.

Hand poured in the Signature Kraft jar with 60+ hours of Balsam + Cedar. A cabin, a first apartment, a plaid-heavy living room: this is the one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which candle smells most like a real Christmas tree?
A: Balsam + Cedar is the closest thing here to a real Christmas tree, built on Fraser fir with balsam and dry cedar behind it and nothing sweet on top. It smells like the cut end of a trunk.

Q: Can a candle stand in for a real tree when you cannot have one?
A: A fir-scented candle gives a rental or an allergy household the smell of a real tree with no needles and no water stand. Light it twenty minutes before people arrive.

Q: What does the buffalo plaid label look like?
A: The label is a red and black buffalo plaid print on a natural kraft jar, with the farm stand wording across the front. It suits a room that already has plaid blankets in it.

Q: Do fir candles just smell like pine cleaner?
A: Cheap pine fragrance smells like cleaning product because it is built on one sharp note and nothing else. This one has balsam and cedar layered under the fir, which is what keeps it from going astringent.

Q: Is it safe to burn a fir candle in a room with a live tree in it?
A: Keep a lit flame well away from a live tree, which dries out and grows more flammable across three weeks indoors. A candle on the far side of the room does the same job for the smell.

Q: Where should this candle go in a small house?
A: Put it in the room people walk into first, because a fir scent travels and does most of its work in a hallway. A closed bedroom wastes it.
