A new house is mostly boxes and a list of things that are slightly wrong for the first six months. This glossy ceramic heart is the part that is already right: "New Home, New Adventures, New Memories."

Hand pressed in the USA under a fused glossy glaze, so it is still hanging on the tree when the house stops feeling new. First-time buyers, a move across the country, downsizers, the friend who finally got out of that apartment: this is the one.

Why You'll Love It

Works as a housewarming gift in June and an ornament in December
Three words that cover the move, the change and everything after it
Glossy ceramic, hand pressed, with a smooth even finish
Fused graphic beneath the glaze, crisp season after season
2.875" heart - a real size, not a token
Undated, so it suits a first home or a fourth
Designed and hand pressed in the USA

Perfect Gift For

First-time homebuyers and new home gifts, housewarming parties, a cross-country move, downsizers, someone leaving a rental at last, a first Christmas in a new house, realtor closing gifts, and the friend who has been packing for a month. When the Christmas decor finally comes out of storage in the new place, it is the first of the Christmas ornaments to go up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a good housewarming gift that is not a candle or a plant?
A: The problem with most housewarming gifts is that they get used up or die. A ceramic keepsake marks the move permanently and takes up almost no space in a house still full of boxes.

Q: Is an ornament a strange housewarming gift in the summer?
A: It works because the first Christmas in a new home is one of the moments people remember, and the ornament arrives months ahead of it. Given in June, it lands again in December.

Q: What do you give someone who just bought their first house?
A: First-time buyers get plenty of practical things and very little that marks the milestone. Something small and sentimental fills the gap the tool sets do not.

Q: What is it made of?
A: Glossy ceramic, hand pressed, with the graphic permanently fused beneath the glaze. It survives a move in a box better than glass does.

Q: Is this a good realtor closing gift?
A: It suits a closing gift well because it is personal without being presumptuous, and it costs less than a bottle of anything decent.

Q: Does it have a year or address on it?
A: No year and no address, which keeps it usable for any move in any year. If you want the address recorded, write it on the back of the gift box.
